Inflection And Derivation

Inflection is a process to form a word by added Inflectional affixes and doesn't change the meaning of word. For examples

1. students

this word from "Student" + affix "s" just to explain that is plural. The meaning of student = siswa, students = siswa-siswa

2. crying

this word from "cry" + affix "ing" just to explain that is past participle. the meaning cry = menangis , crying = menangis

Derivation is process adding Derivational suffixes to a word that change the meaning and often the class word too. At first we must know the meaning is different or not after adding derivational suffixes. If the meaning is difference so this is DERIVATION PROCESS. If the meaning is still same, we must to know about the class of word after adding derivational suffixes still same or not. When the adding derivational suffixes change the class word so that is Derivation proess.

For examples
